Terms of Service

Last updated: July 22, 2026

These Terms govern your use of Charleston ("the Service"), booking and business software for mah jong teachers. By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms.

1. Your account

You are responsible for the activity under your account and for keeping your password secure. You must provide accurate information and be at least 18 years old. One studio operates under each owner account; you may invite staff to your studio.

2. The Service

Charleston lets you publish a booking calendar, take reservations and payments from your students, manage a student list, and run your studio. Features may change over time as we improve the product.

3. Subscription and billing

Access requires an active subscription. Plans are $9.99 per month or $99.90 per year (two months free), billed automatically through Stripe. New studios start with a 14-day free trial; unless you cancel before it ends, your subscription then begins and your card is charged automatically. You can cancel anytime from your account's billing portal, and access continues through the end of the paid period. Fees are non-refundable except where required by law. We may change pricing with reasonable advance notice.

4. Payments to you

If you collect payments from your students, you do so through your own connected Stripe account. Charleston is not a party to those transactions and is not responsible for them; your agreement with Stripe governs that money.

5. Your data and your students' data

You own the content and records you put into Charleston. You are responsible for having the right to collect and use your students' information and for handling it lawfully. We process that data on your behalf to provide the Service, as described in our Privacy Policy.

6. Acceptable use

Don't use the Service to break the law, infringe others' rights, send spam, upload malware, or attempt to disrupt or gain unauthorized access to the system or other studios' data.

7. Availability

We work to keep the Service running but provide it "as is," without warranty of uninterrupted or error-free operation. We may modify or suspend features.

8. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Charleston is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for lost profits or data. Our total liability is limited to the amount you paid in the three months before the claim.

9. Termination

You may stop using the Service and cancel anytime. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms. You can export or request your data before closing your account.

10. Changes

We may update these Terms; material changes will be posted here with a new date. Continued use after changes means you accept them.
